The finest photos we have are perhaps those taken with our family during joyful moments. These shots are usually taken when we least expect it. But as they are easy to shoot with our digital cameras and camera phones, maybe we need a little more official to show the next generation. The next generation will benefit from the family photograph as much as we will. As the ultimate family tribute, it is something that will tell the children of our children their family story. It is a commemoration of our milestones as family. Each candle we blow on our cake and every member born is deserving of a family photograph. It’s also a tradition. Every family photograph naturally includes the whole family. And with every typical family, kids are always present. kids will always act as kids so it is almost guaranteed that the picture shoot won’t finish in just a couple of minutes. Sitting still for a few minutes isn’t their strong suit. Make certain that you have adequate candies and toys to bribe them into behaving. Make them comfortable as much as possible too. This is also true for the elder family members. The heat from the photographer’s lights or, if the picture take takes place al fresco, from the sunlight can wear them down. Take their medicines as a precautionary measure and allot a room or shade area for them to cool down.

You can have an outdoor picture or you can take it indoors. Talk about where you would want to hold it with your family. Go for the most popular suggestion. Vote on the options if you must so everybody will feel included. Just avoid taking it with a prominent landmark as backgrounds because the emphasis of the photo will divert to the backdrop. Traditional family photographs are normally very formal, though you could make it fun and do a theme such as all-red motif or mafia-themed photo shoot where everybody wears mafia-like suits and attires. Then inform your photographer what your family decided on and let him run the present to from then on.

Lastly, accept the fact that not everybody will smile like Barbie and Ken in the photo. We all want to show perfect smiles, but realize that it’s just all right if some will smirk or decline to smile at all. We want to incorporate a little formality in the photo, but we also want to present to the personality of everyone. It is a truly sad and unfortunate family portrait indeed if it features the members showing false smiles.
